In an effort to reduce owner surrenders to Kerr County Animal Services, KPA! offers a courtesy posting service for pet owners in need of re-homing. Please note that KPA! is not affiliated with these adoptions. All placements are private arrangements made directly between the current owner and the prospective adopter. Owners are responsible for screening applicants and determining the best fit for their pet!

Barn Cat Adoptions

Kerr County Animal Control takes in thousands of animals each year, including many cats that have been trapped by property owners who view them as a nuisance. While some of these cats are friendly, many have had little to no human socialization and prefer to live independently.  These cats, often called "working cats," are not suited for traditional indoor homes but thrive in barns, warehouses, shops, stables, and rural properties. In return for food, water, and shelter, they provide excellent natural rodent control and require minimal care.  Kerrville Pets Alive! covers the cost of vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and basic medical care before placement. There is no adoption fee, though donations are always appreciated and help us continue this lifesaving program!

If you have a barn, warehouse, acreage, or other property that could benefit from a working cat, please contact us at info@kerrvillepetsalive.org for more information!
